Filey is a huge crescent shaped bay that is only really worth checking in huge north storm surf. Protection comes from The Filey Brigg which is a long rocky outcrop.
Primrose Valley and Humanby Gap pick up more swell than Filey but this bay is generally a poor option due to the flat nature of the beach.

Paid parking on the foreshore, free in the depths of winter. A couple of nasty cafes for the desperate.
